Cheryl Alleyne studied on the "Light Music" course at the College of Arts and Technology in Newcastle from 1984-87, graduating with a Grade 1 Distinction Diploma and the "Student of the Year" award. On returning to London, she worked with Courtney Pine and the Jazz Warriors, Loose Tubes, the Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra and the Steve Williamson Quintet. She toured extensively with rap/hip-hop band Us3 from 93-94 supporting UB40. She has also worked with Marlena Shaw, Jean Carne, Percy Sledge, Billy Paul, the late Jimmy Witherspoon and jammed with Herbie Hancock. Cheryl is currently working in America's capital, D.C.
