In these days of electronic everything, music recording technology was amongst the first to go fully digital, and the old style studios musicians love so much full of authentic vintage instruments and outboard music equipment suddenly seemed like it was going to be redundant. However now that the digital revolution has come and gone many people have discovered that the real live sound still cannot be satisfactorily imitated by electronics, and that theres nothing quite like a real drummer and live guitars, however clever the computers get, they still can't do it like people can. Most large cities have many recording studios, London is obviously no exception, with likely many more than its fair share per square mile than the national average, Abbey Road, made famous by the Beatles being an obvious example, but top quality live recording studios that will not cost you more than your mortgage payment every session, are not so easy to find any more. It is important that the studio you are considering using has good experience of producing live music and their own particular acoustics, always try to listen to any other music you know has been produced in the same studio before making a decision to record there. One thing is certain anyway, the digital revolution which threatened to sweep all previous forms of music production before it, will never replace real live bands and acoustic recordings.
